James Jerome Allen

James Jerome Allen, 66, Sabetha, passed away on January 21, 2004, at a Sabetha hospital.

He was born June 11, 1937, at Oneida, KS the son of James Clifton and Edith Bell Davis Allen.

He attended schools in Oneida and graduated from Oneida High School in 1955. Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Army from June 9, 1960, to May 22, 1962. He was a farm laborer and worked for Walter Heiniger. He was farming north of Sabetha at the time of his death. He also worked for Mid-American Dairy Creamery for more than 30 years.

He married Betty Hartman on Nov. 3, 1963, at Fairview. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Rodney Allen, Sabetha; a daughter, DeeAnn Fangman, Seneca, KS; four brothers, Darwin Allen, Burkburnett, TX, Rex Allen, Lakewood, CO, Howard Allen, Oneida, and Fred Allen, Nemaha, NE; three sisters, Kathryn Hough, Beloit, WI, Betty Hoover, Belvue, and Marie Jones, Ozawkie; and a granddaughter, Nicole Fangman.

A son, James Lee Allen, and two brothers, Harold and Bill Allen, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Jan. 24, 2004 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairview, with interment in Albany Cemetery north of Sabetha, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Sabetha Community Hospital, sent in care of Popkess Funeral Home in Sabetha.
