Evelyn Ruth (Wright) Barlow, was born on April 6, 1917, near Fontana, Kan., to Etta Barnes Wright and Clifford Charles Wright. She passed away December 13, 2010. She graduated from Osage Township High School in Fontana in 1935 and taught five years in the rural schools there in Miami County. She attended summer school at Ottawa University and at Pittsburgh State Teachers College. She married Hayward Barlow on Oct. 25, 1941. She was active in the DeMolay Mothers Club and in the International Order of King's Daughters. She was a past president of the Ashland Parents and Teachers Association. She was a past Worthy Commander of the Order of the True Kindred. She and her husband moved to Bella Vista, AR in 1978. She was active in the Family Community Education Club and was a fair Superintendent of the Benton County Fair for several years. She was a past Regent of the Enoch Ashley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Qui Vive Club in Bentonville and a member of the Bentonville chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Bentonville. In August of 1995, she and her husband moved to Lee's Summit. There she was active in the Prose and Poetry group. She became a member of the Cyclone Extension Club, and associate member of the Prairie Chapter of the DAR and associate member of the Village Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Hayward A. Barlow, brother, Carl Wright and daughter-in-law, Carol Barlow. Survivors are her two sons, Alvin Scott Barlow, Sr. and companion Yumei of Sun City, Ariz., and Charles Dean Barlow and wife Betty of Greenwood, Mo.; sister, Irma Player and brother, Clifford Wright; grandchildren, Debbie West, Alvin Scott Barlow Jr., Steven D. Barlow and Christopher D. Barlow; seven great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Graveside services will be Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Fontana Cemetery of Fontana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 1st Presbyterian Church-Samaritan Fund, 406 W. Central, Bentonville, AR 72712. Arrangements are through Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW Third St., Lee's Summit, MO 64063 (816) 524-3700.
