Daniel Brown Walker was the son of James Alexander Walker and Mary Evalyne Brown Walker. He married first to Katherine Ervine on about 10 Dec 1910. She died in 1914 and he appears to have married a second time to a Katie F. in about 1918. His 2nd wife is listed on the Augusta Co., Virginia Census in 1920 and 1930. I previously thought it was the same woman until I confirmed the death year on Katherine Ervine Walker's gravestone, to be 1914. On the 1920 census they had adopted a son Frank Caricar (hard to read his surname), his age is also not legible. He is not with them on the 1930 census. Daniel Brown Walker, 1862-1944.

Source of burial here: Rockbridge County, Virginia Cemeteries, South River and Walker Creek Districts, by the Rockbridge Area Genealogical Society, 1999, page 155.

In Emma Siggins White's book The Genealogy of the Descendants of John Walker of Wigton, Scotland, with Records of a Few Allied Families, page 169-170, says he was born in 3 Aug 1864. I found Daniel's sister Mary D. Walker buried here also and note that her birth year is also 2 years off in this source.

On the 1880 Walkers Creek, Rockbridge Co., Virginia census, I found farmer James A Walker, 57; wife Mary E, 47; daughters or sons: Bettie, 25; Thomas H, 23; Ella, 20; DANIEL B, 16; Margaret D, 14; James A, 13; Robert H, 11 and Fannie M, 7, plus servant, William Carter, 7, all Virginia born.

Daniel Brown Walker was born on 3 Aug 1862 in Rockbridge Co., Virginia, to parents James Walker and Mary Brown (both Rockbridge Co., born). He was married, name unlisted. On 22 May 1944, he died at Kings Daughters Hospital, in Staunton, Augusta Co., Virginia. VA Cert. of Death #10988.
