Audrey E. Saemann, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 02, 2010, at the Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls.
She was born on November 30, 1915 daughter of the late Erle and Anna (Wierman) Chaplin in the Town of Lyndon.
On July 6, 1946 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Saemann. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1995.
She attended grade school and high school in Waldo graduating in 1933. She furthered her education by attending Sheboygan County Normal School until 1935 and obtaining a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.
Her teaching career began in rural county schools in Sheboygan County and ended teaching high school at the Lightfoot School in Sheboygan Falls.
Audrey was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Church School Superintendent, was a choir member for over 60 years, and choir director for many of those years. She also served as a district officer for United Methodist Women and as an officer for Sheboygan County Church Women United.
Audrey was a member of the Community Service Club of Waldo. Her interest in her community was instrumental in raising money to purchase Christmas decorations, flags, and banners for the Village of Waldo. She also collected extensive albums of Waldo history throughout her life. She had been a Cub Scout leader and a leader in the Waldo Fireflies 4-H Club. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and worked at the polls for many years. Audrey was a member of the Plymouth DAR and was very interested in her Chaplin and Wierman lineage.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane (Rick) Klopcic; three grandchildren, Corrie (Bruno) Chumpitazi, Ryan (Kristi) Klopcic and Kyle Klopcic, and two great- grandchildren, Grace Chumpitazi, and Carter Klopcic. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Marian (Bob) Wierman; a brother-in-law, George (Delores) Saemann, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sons, John and Donald.
Funeral services will be on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waldo with the Rev. Jeremy Deaner officiating. Burial will follow in the Waldo Cemetery.
