Lamoin G. Speck, 91, passed away at Plantation Village Nursing Home on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Altus with the Rev. Keith Wiginton, Dr. Jeff Moore and Dr. Tony Nickel officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Lamoin Gwendolyn Washburn was born Oct. 26, 1919, to Sam and Maude (Greer) Washburn. She was born on her late grandparents farm who were Margaret and James Washburn in Tillman County. She attended grade school at Loveland, graduating in 1937 from Grandfield. She attended Oklahoma State University which was then A and M College.

She married N.B. "Beno" Buckner in Grandfield in 1939, they moved to Altus in 1945. A son Tommy N. Buckner was born to them on May 18, 1947. Her son Tommy preceded her in death in 1965 and her husband N.B. Buckner preceded her in death in 1968.

Mrs. Speck was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Altus. She has been faithful to her Lord, teaching various ages of Sunday School for over 60 years, and she assisted in Prayer Ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Church and First Baptist Church for many years.

Lamoin married Morris J. Speck in 1973 in Altus. She was employed with Civil Service from 1942 to 1945, employed with Altus Ford Motor Company from 1953 to 1965, and with Oklahoma State University Extension from 1965 to 1980.

Mrs. Speck was preceded in death by her husbands, N.B. Buckner and Morris J. Speck; a son, Tommy N. Buckner; her parents; one brother, Wayne Washburn; and sister, Wyvona French.

She is survived by her sisters, Freeda Lewis of Frederick, Margie Reid of Grandfield, and Sammie Ladd and husband James of Altus; a brother, Jimmy Washburn and wife Barbara of Moyers; a brother-in-law, Alan French of Frederick; her stepchildren, Andy Speck of Mansfield, Texas, and Suzanne Bennett and husband Buzz of Dallas, Texas; a step-grandson, Ryan Speck; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
