Fritz Forster

Relatives and friends were shocked and grieved when they learned of the sudden passing of Mr. Fritz Forster, Friday morning, November 13, 1931. His death was wholly unexpected and therefore was a terrible blow to his wife and other loved ones.

Mr. Forster was born in Germany, 66 years ago. He came to America when a young man of 18 years. He first made his home in Chicago, later moving to Texas, settling in Rowena, then in Needville. Has made his home in Rosenberg for a number of years, where his death occurred.

Mr. Forster was one of the finest men we ever knew. No one but himself and God knows the extent of his kind deeds to those less fortunate than he. His heart went out to those in trouble and he helped them without seeking the praise of the world.

When Mr. Forster came to Fort Bend County, he did not find much of its fertile land in cultivation. he was actively engaged in the real estate business until the time of his death, and due to much of his activity, the county was soon settled by experienced farmers, and is today one of the finest sections of Texas. He was instrumental in bringing only the very best citizens to Fort Bend County.

Mr. Forster was married to Miss Augusta Abendroth and to this happy union, seven children were born, six of whom survive him. he is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Annie Baumert of Deutch, Lissa, Germany, Mrs. Robert Schaefer of Schulenburg and Mrs. D.W. Schuech of Rosenberg; three sons, C. O., Fred H. and Raymond Forster, all of Rosenberg; three grandsons, C.O. Forster, Jr. and Jack Forster of Rosenberg and Russell Schaefer of Schulenburg; one granddaughter, Yolanda Schuech of Rosenberg; four brothers, E. Forster, Rosenberg, Herman Forster, Houston, Chas. F. Forster, Chicago, and Otto Forster of Waco; one sister, who resides in Germany.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church of which he was a member, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. C.W. Schlecte, pastor of the church, conducted the services, assisted by Rev. A.C. Peterson of Needville and Rev. Ed Barcus of Rosenberg. The funeral was attended by a host of friends from many sections -- was perhaps one of the largest attended funerals ever held here. The large attendance and he immense floral offerings of tested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment was made in the W.O.W. Cemetery in Rosenberg.

Note: His body was later moved to this cemetery.
