Arthur Lee Jernigan spent his childhood in Texas (TX) and Tennessee, where he attended elementary and high schools. At an early age, Arthur began working on cattle ranches in Texas. Prior to his marriage, Arthur worked as a foreman of the Coon-Culbertson Cattle Company, near Dalhart, TX.
On December 22, 1939, Irma married Arthur Lee Jernigan and they resided on a ranch near Amistad, New Mexico (NM). They raised Black Angus and Herford cattle. Irma taught English and History throughout the years at Amistad, NM until 1963.
Arthur served on the Amistad School Board for sixteen years and he served as president of the Air-New Mexico-Radio Corporation of Clayton, NM.
Arthur died at High Plains Baptist Hospital, Amarillo, TX.
