She was born November 14, 1930 in Ottawa, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Vera C. (Sausen) Hilpipre.
Barb graduated from Ottawa High School and Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. After graduating, she was employed by Carson Pirie Scott in Chicago as an Interior Decorator and Rendering Artist.
She married Guy A. Abbott on November 7, 1953 in Ottawa, IL. While her children were growing up, she was a active in the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and spent numerous hours at school volunteering.
She was employed by Imperial Marble for over 20 years retiring as their Safety Director.
She is survived by her husband, Guy of Leland; three sons, Art Abbott of Zion, IL, Greg (Margret) Abbott of Leland, IL and Chris (Sandy) Abbott of Mexico, MO; one daughter, Barb "Barbie" (Jim) Hunt of Aurora, IL; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; one sister, Marge Doogan of Ottawa, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Rev. Sherry Hoening officiating. Burial will follow at Little Indian Creek Cemetery in rural Leland, IL.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2008 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk.
