ROBERT D. "BOB" SPITZER
HOBART, IN

Robert D. "Bob" Spitzer, age 89 of Hobart, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010.
He was born on July 17, 1921 in Fair Oaks, IN to the late Jacob and Mattie Spitzer.
He was a longtime Hobart resident and was formerly of Hammond. Robert served his country in WWII as part of the United States Seabees. He retired from U.S. Steel. Robert was a member of the Hobart VFW Post 5365 and was a 32nd degree mason and member of the M.L. McClelland Lodge #357. He loved gardening and fishing on the Tippecanoe River.
Robert was a loving husband, a wonderful father and a good friend to all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Esther Spitzer of Hobart, IN; three daughters: Linda (Jerry) Key of Katy, TX, Geri (Ben) Gallardo of Portage, IN and Jane Spitzer of Osceola, IN; two sisters-in-law: Rita Spitzer of Hammond, IN and Clara LaReau of Lowell, IN; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Dan) Eby, Rebecca Key, Jason Key, Nathan (Ashley) Key, Jamie Tengdin, Ben (Jen) Gallardo, Jeremy Gallardo, Alisha Gallardo and Jillian Gallardo; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Oliver, James, and Gerald Spitzer.
Funeral services are Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating.
Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, December 13, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Masonic service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. Call (219) 942- 2109 or online at www.Reesfuneralhomes.com.
