Florence Baggett was a 43 year old victim of the Winecoff Hotel fire in Atlanta, Georgia on December 7, 1946. He was staying in suite 1108-1110-1112 with his first cousins Sara Baggett Miller, who perished, and Catherine McLaughlin, who survived. He was known as one of the best auctioneers in the Southeast. He came to Atlanta driving his brand new 1947 Ford from his home in Metter on the Thursday before the fire to see a doctor about enlarged vocal chords. His cousins Sara and Catherine had arrived the next day from Gordon, Georgia. He was a very friendly man who got along well with everybody.
