Zula Clampett Isom Braden,72 years old, the wife of James "Jim Braden, passed away last evening on May 6, 1949 in Waltonville, Illinois.

Funeral services were held Sunday in Waltonville at the Methodist Church. Burial was in the Knob Prairie Cemetery.

She was born to Robert Raines and Arena (Mezo) Clampet. Mrs. Braden cared for her mother for many years, due to severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. My mother, the youngest child of Jim and Zula, said she used to sing to her grandmother Clampet who was all "drawn up" and couldn't do anything for herself.

She was united in marriage to James Ira Isom, her first husband. They were blessed with five children. After his death in 1910, she was united in marriage to James Perry Braden and they were blessed with four children.

Survivors include her husband, James, eight children, Nelson(Inez) Isom, Viva Fern (Tom) Isom Atkins, Eudene (Holly) Braden Dees and Bernard Braden, all of Waltonville, Gusty Isom Lackey of Sesser, Elmer Isom of Mt. Vernon, Clifford Braden of Miami, Florida and Geraldine Louise "Jerry" Braden (Tommy) Williams of Fulton, Missouri, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Zula was preceeded in death by her parents, one daughter, Myrl Isom Martin, grandsons, Lowell Atkins, Charles Dale Isom, infant-Ulan Ray Isom and Sergent Wendell J. Marti

The information was obtained from Lisa @Griff.com and Rosemary Atkins.
