While it is believed that her death was caused by blood poisining the case was baffling to many physicians.
Everything known to science and medicine was done to save the life of this young woman but nothing availed except for a short time.
She was but 28 years of age and she leaves her husband and two young children, Helen Louise, aged six years and Loy Cuyen, aged 3 years.
Mabel G. Black Awkerman was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Black, of near Three Springs.
She was one of a large family of thirteen, ten of whom are living.
She was united in marriage to Harry S. Awkerman, the son of C. B. Awkerman of Mount Union and they lived here for a short time after beginning housekeeping.
Mrs. Awkerman was of a happy, cheerful disposition and during the years that she lived here she won many friends.
Much regret is felt in the hearts of Mount Union people on account of her early demise.
The remains were brought from Harrisburg Monday evening and taken in charge by W. P. Dunmire. They were taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Awkerman in the Thompson apartment, Jefferson Street.
They will be taken to the home of the parents of Mrs. Awkerman, Mr. and Mrs. Black near Three Springs on Tuesday and on Wednesday afternoon services will be held at Center Church, Fulton County, and interment made nearby. Rev. Armstrong and Rev. Wagner, of Harrisburg, will officiate. Mr. Dunmore will direct burial."
