Bazz Lamar Smith, 54, died March 27, 2009, at his home. He was a lifetime resident of Vero Beach.

He was employed by Indian River Medical Center for 19 1/2 years and recently operated his own company as a paint contractor. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1822, Vero Beach; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1134, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and the Vero Beach Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Brooks Smith of Vero Beach; brother, Gary Smith of Vero Beach; and sister, Kathy Smith of Vero Beach.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Lucille G. Smith; and his brother, Dale Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the International Mooseheart in care of the Moose Children, 155 South International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539.

SERVICES: A celebration of life will be at 4:30 p.m. April 5 at the Vero Beach Moose Lodge 1822, 226 43rd Ave, Vero Beach, followed by a "Bazz Smith Bar-B-Que." The family requests that gifts of food be brought to the barbecue instead of the Smith's home.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
