Walter Yoost
1928-2005

Mr. Walter K. Yoost, 77, of 0554 N. Forrester Rd., LaPorte, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at 8:40 p.m. at LaPorte Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born Jan. 2, 1928, in Chicago to Walter and Frances (Knight) Yoost, and had lived in the LaPorte area since 1951, coming from Indianola, Miss.

Mr. Yoost retired from the Gary Post Tribune as a printer and he was owner of Ski Valley, LaPorte. He attended Door Village Methodist Church and was a member of LaPorte Yacht Club, LaPorte Aero Club and the Over 40's Dance Club. He attended Georgia Tech University. He was a U.S. Naval Air Force veteran of World War II.

On July 30, 1949, in Chicago, he married Irene P. Murray, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Cynthia L. (Paul) Wilson of Naperville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Walter and Whitney Yoost, Brad, Lauren and Ryan Wilson and Saxon Stiller; one sister, Joy Christian of Las Vegas; and his daughter-in-law, Christine Yoost Stiller of LaPorte.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rebecca Sue; and one son, Walter M.

A private family graveside service will be Friday at Door Village Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. There will be no visitation. Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Door Village United Methodist Church, 3502 W. Joliet Rd., LaPorte, IN 46350; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
