Mary Elizabeth Charles, 98, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on December 9, 2010 at St. Mary's Manor.
Mary was born on September 23, 1912 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of the late Daniel B. and Fannie E. (Klum) Phillips. She was united in marriage to John L. Charles on April 17, 1937. Mary and John were blessed with nearly 64 years of marriage before his passing on July 14, 2001. She devoted her life to being a homemaker and raising her children. Mary truly enjoyed being a part of her children's and grandchildren's lives. She was very interested in politics and often debated with family members.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and a sister.
She leaves behind her children, Margaret Leonard & husband, Charles of West Grove, IA, Patricia Baker & husband, Wallace of West Grove, IA, Raymond Charles & wife, Jane of Tehachapi, CA, Mary Golick & husband, William of Blue Springs, MO; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon – 12:45 pm, Monday, December 13, 2010 at Meyers Funeral Chapel. A prayer service will be held in the chapel at 12:45 pm. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday at Blue Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice.
