The first marriage of our subject (George Washington Horton) which took place May 1, 1864, was to Mary Ann Saffer, a native of woodland Township. she departed this life October 18, 1871, leaving four children, William S., Oscar J,. Clara E., and Albert S.

Mr. Horton was married a second time April 23, 1879, taking as his wife, Miss Sallie J. McKim, a native of Steubenville, OH.

From this information it seems very possible that Mary Saffer Horton died after the delivery of twins, Willetta and albert Sidney Horton, of which only albert Sidney survived.
