CHESTERTON, Jan 22--Charles Axel Highwood, 75, of 111 W. Lincoln, Chesterton, died at Woods Rest Home, Beverly Shores, at 8:30 p.m. Friday after a lingering illness.
A retired New York Central railroad employee, he had worked at Porter for the NYC as a tower man.
Born in LaPorte County Feb. 3, 1879, he was the son of Nels and Hildegard Highwood.
Surviving are two nephews, Offley Highwood of Chesterton and Donald Highwood of Chicago, and a niece, Miss Marie Highwood of Chicago.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Flynn-Johnson Funeral home. The Rev. Mervyn L. Holmberg will officiate and burial will be in Chesterton Cemetery.
