CHESTERTON--Offley Leonard Highwood, 65, 421 W. Porter Avenue, died at 1:45 a.m. today in Porter Memorial hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Born Sept. 23, 1898 in Chesterton, he was the son of Robert and Ida Mae (Shaner) Highwood. In April 1923 he married Verna Marcy Pirrung who preceded him in death in 1954.

A life-long resident of Chesterton, Highwood was employed by the General Telephone company in Chesterton for 44 years before retiring. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers of America and Duneland Historical Society, and an honorary member of the Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Virginia McCorkel, Chesterton; one son Warren H., Chesterton; two grandchildren and one brother, Donald Highwood of Chicago.

Services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday in the Carl Edmonds Funeral Home with the Rev. William Hughes, Chesterton Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Chesterton Cemetery.
