Mildred Jane (Wilson) and James Garnett "Garney" Kofahl were married Jan. 24, 1911, in the Southern Hotel, Houston, MO. J. J. Carty, minister of the gospel, officiated with witnesess, James S. King and Miss Vivian Sherrill. following the ceremony, they left by train for Bakersfield, CA, and eventually made their home in Fellows where "Garney" was employed by Tidewater Associated Oil Company for the next thirty-three years.

Mildred Jane "Jen" was born Aug. 11, 1885. She was the fifth child of Taylor Sampson and Sallie Priestly (McBride) Wilson. She became a member of the Licking Church of Christ in 1907. She attended the Ozark School and received her teaching certificate from the Licking College. She taught in several country schools in Texas County. One of note was the Bethlehem School. Pearl (Smith) Harry was one of her star pupils there. She kept a running correspondence with her throughout her lifetime. Jen's interest continued in concern for betterment of schools, doing volunteer work in various community projects wherever she lived.

"Garney" - "Tom", as he was known to his friends and colleagues, was the son of Henry H. and Flora Ellen (Landau) Kofahl. He was born and raised in the Sherrill community. He also was a teacher before his marriage to Jen.

Jen and Tom were the parents of two children, Sally Ruth (Kofahl) McMastrs and Harold Gene Kofahl. The Kofahl's spent their retirement years in Gold Hill, OR. Tom had enjoyed many hunting expeditions in the mountains of California and Oregon. Their home in Oregon was on the banks of the Rogue River. He also enjoyed fishing. Jen won many awards for flower arrangements from flowers grown in her garden. Tom passed away in 1960. Jen remained in Gold Hill for ten years. She spent her last years in Billings, MT, near her daughter. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 53 years. She and Tom joined the Methodist Church in God Hill. Jen was very active in her late years in spite of an arthritic condition. She suffered a stroke a year before she died Mar. 24, 1978. She and Tom are entombed in the mausoleum at Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford, OR.
