ELMER O. AHRENS

Elmer O. Ahrens, 60, of 1916 Roosevelt Ave., Two Rivers, a World War I veteran,
and an employe of Plant No. 1 of the Aluminum Goods Mfg. Co., Two Rivers, for
more than 30 years, died Wednesday morning at the Wisconsin University Hospital
where he had been a patient since Sunday. He had been ill the past month.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are being handled by the Klein & Stangel
Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers.
Mr. Ahrens was born on a farm near Manitowoc Oct. 4, 1895, son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. August Ahrens. He entered the service in World War I on May 24, 1918,
and served as a private first class with the 36th Battalion, U.S. Guards at Camp
Grant.
Several years later Mr. Ahrens came to Two Rivers and took employment in 1923 at
the Aluminum Goods firm plant where he was employed continuously as a clerk in
the shipping room until a month ago. He was a member of the Robert E. Burns Post
185, American Legion, Two Rivers, and seved for many years on its drill team. He
also was a member of the "25-Year Club" of the Aluminum Goods Co.
Thirty-two years ago he married the former Helen Oestreich ??? ????, who survives
him with a daughter, Mrs. Elmer Wilsman of Two Rivers; a sister, Mrs. Flora Heimpke
of Brillion; two brothers, Richard on the homestead farm, and Edward of Manitowoc,
and three grandchildren.

Marriage of Elmer/Helen Ahrens
The wedding of Miss Helen Oestreich of this city to Elmer Ahrens of Highland Park, Ill., took place at Waukegan last week according to word received by friends of the couple here and at Manitowoc. Miss Oestreich is a popular Two Rivers girl and a number of showers and parties have been given for her during the past months. The groom is a former Manitowoc man, being the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Ahrens, Route 6, and is employed at Highland Park where the couple will make their home. Miss Oestrich was formerly a telephone operator here and is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Oestrich, 1016 Hawthorne St.
