Ebenezer Wingate was born July 15, 1833; died Jan 22, 1907, aged 73 years, 6 months and 7 days. He was born in Tuscarawas County, OH, and moved to Hardin County, OH with his parents when about nine years of age, and has resided there since until death, being a citizen of Liberty Township until 12 years ago, when he moved to Cessna Township.
He was united in marriage to Rueann Cummans on May 8, 1861. There was born to this union three sons and four daughters. Two sons and two daughters and his wife preceded him. George, Mrs Hattie Beck, of this county, and Mrs Ida Eggerman, of Oklahoma, and 7 grandchildren and a host of friends survive him.
In May 1864, he enlisted with Co I 135th Regiment of OH Volunteers and served faithfully until expiration of his enlistment.
He was a kind neighbor always with an open hand to help the needy, and was highly respected by all his neighbors in the community in which he lived.
His last illness was of several months duration and was due to spinal trouble. Funeral services conducted by Rev Ernsberger, were held Sunday at 11 am at the Huntersville Church. Interment at Woodlawn.
