Forest Service Employee Dies In Vernal

Funeral services were conducted Saturday for Wilford Russell Evans, 52, of Vernal who died of a heart attack November 20 at his home on Brush Creek. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Uintah County Hospital.
He was born October 13, 1921 in Vernal to John Hughes and Gladys L. Middleton Evans. He married Julia Jensxi. He was divorced. He was chief fire dispatcher U.S. Forest Service, Veteran of World War II, Korean War, Member American Legion.
Survivors, Mother; brothers, sisters. Floyd T., Vernal; Martin A., Salt Lake City; Mrs. Leon (Estella) Ainge, Jensen; Mrs. Laura Kenney, Grand Junction.
The services were held in the Vernal First Ward Chapel conducted by Vaughn Francis, 1st councilor in the LDS chruch.
Family Prayer was offered by Marvin Newell with prelude and postlude music by Florenece Lee. Max Lewis offered invocation. Mr. Francis offered remarks and read the obituary.
Kathy Evans sang two selections. "In the Garden" and "Going Home." The closing speaker was Neal Deets. Benediction was offered by Ron Sanden. Robert Chandler dedicated the grave.
Pallbeares were Marvin Newell, Max Lewis, Roy Morgan, Ron Sanden, Robert Chandler and Kelly Wilkins.
Interment was in the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the American Legion.
Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Evans, Mary Evans. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Evans, Bessie Lusty and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Evans, all of Salt Lake City.
Laura Evans, Mr. and Mrs. George Vezakis, Grand Junction; Florence Evans, Lehi; Edward Evans and Larry Evans, Rock Springs; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carrol, Upalco; Mr. and Mrs. bob Childs, Cedar City; and Ardon Evans, Arcadia.
