Margaret Maxine Merritt, 83, Lenexa, KS, died Sunday, October 25, 1998.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 29, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lenexa; graveside services and burial will be 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hartford, KS. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, Overland Park, KS, where the rosary will be said at 7 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made for the beautification and upkeep of the cemetery at St. Mary's Church, Hartford, KS.

Margaret was deeply interested in education. She retired as a teacher and vice-principal of Tomahawk School in Overland Park, after 45 years in the teaching field. She was a graduate of Emporia State Teacher's College, where she received both her bachelor's and master's degrees.

Margaret was a life member of the National Education Association, Kansas State Teacher's Association, the local Teacher's Association and the Retired Teacher's Association. She belonged to the Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Society and was active in the Garden Club, the Daughter's of Isabella, the Area Prayer Group and several charitable activities in the Overland Park area. She retired to Lakeview Village, Lenexa, KS, in 1986.
