Colonel's Island - The Rev. James Lee Hendrix, 79, died Thursday at Liberty Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Bulloch County and had lived on Colonel's Island for the past 20 years. He was a member of the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, a member of the 32nd Degree Scottish Rites Masons and former member of the Lions and Rotary clubs.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred H. Hendrix, Colonel's Island; two sons, James Lee Hendrix Jr., Williamson, and John W. Hendrix, Fort Benning; four daughters, Margie H. Barden, Thoomasville, Dorothy H. Hope, Gainesville, Margaret Hendrix, Colonel's Island, and Ruth H. Garrard, Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother, Datis B. Hendrix, Brooklet; two sisters, Jean Martin, Wrens, and Ann Kennedy, Acworth; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Midway United Methodist Church with Dr. Rudolph Starling and Dr. Bruce Wilson officiating. Burial will be at 3:45 p.m. at Brooklet City Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Morrison Funeral Home.
