Harriett Morgan Clark Beall was born in 1855 even though her tombstone has 1853. She died in Pinehurst, N. C. while visiting her daughter Priscilla McKaig Beall Scofield. She married in Washington, D. C. on Dec. 4, 1884 Louis Erwin Beall, son of Louis Dunn Beall and a desc. of the Maryland Bealls that have roots in American soil since the 1600s.

Harriett M. Beall was a daughter of Samuel Edward & Harriet Mather (Betts) Clark of Troy (NY), New York City and Parkersburg, WV. The Betts were early settlers of NY, founders of Betts Corners, now Lysander, Rensselaer County, New York. Mr. S. E. Clark is a Mayflower desc. from the Cushman line. He was an oil man and died in 1881, before he could see his 2 daugthers safely married and happy (Miss Harriett M. Clark marrying Louis Erwin Beall and Miss Julia Clark marrying Beverly Cole of the Troy NY Newspaper owners).

Louis Erwin and Harriett Beall both played golf and summered in Pinehurst for the season. They were entered in tournaments and enjoyed the events immensely. The Bealls had three children: Priscilla Beall who married Edwin Lewis Scofield, of the Stamford Scofields, Edward Clark Beall of Daphne AL, and Louis Erwin Beall, Jr who drowned in a boating accident. He was a senior at Princeton.
