Mass of Christian Burial for Ranchester native Helen Martha Clark, 90, of Buffalo, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo with the Rev. George Von Kaenel as celebrant. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the church. Visitation is until 5 p.m. today in Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside committal services following the Mass. Mrs. Clark died Monday, April 24, 2006, in Buffalo. She was born Jan. 16, 1916, in Ranchester to Joseph and Kate Washut. She started school in Ranchester and later moved with her family to Buffalo, where she attended high school. After high school, she worked in Sheridan at Boyd's Super Market and for Safeway. She moved to Buffalo in 1948 and worked for Pioneer Lumber as a bookkeeper. She attended night school at Hyman Business College in Sheridan, receiving a two-year degree as a bookkeeper. She married Ray Clark on Jan. 20, 1950, in Buffalo. She was a social worker with the Department of Family Services for 27 years until she retired in 1981. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a 60-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She belonged to a bridge club and was an avid player. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her husband; a son, Ray Jr. of Buffalo; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
