Peter Filla Dies At His Home ~ Failing in Health for Past Year; Seriously Ill for Several Months. ~ Peter T. Filla departed this life at his home, 346 High street, on Friday, February 9, 1940, at 2:55 a.m., having attained the age of 69 years, 3 months and 23 days. Born in Clover Bottom, Mo, October 16, 1870, he was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, and received his education in the Clover Bottom school. He lived with his parents until their death. After the death of his parents, Mr. Filla found employment in Oklahoma for a number of years, and on September 17,1901, was married to Miss Agnes Nowak of Clover, Mo. Two sons were born to his union. They made their home in Oklahoma until the year 1906, when they moved to Washington, Mo., and made this city their permanent home. During his many years residence in this community, he gained the acquaintanceship of a host of friends, as he was of a pleasant and accommodating disposition. He was a devoted husband and father and his departure brings deep sorrow into the hearts of his loved ones. Mr. Filla's health and been failing the past year, and he had been seriously ill for several months. Besides his bereaved wife, Mr.s Agnes Filla, he leaves to mourn two sons, Roman and Arthur Filla, of this city, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Roman Filla, two grandsons, Harlan and Orville, one sister, Mrs. Louis Heldenfelter of St. Louis, Mo., three brothers, Martin Filla of St. Louis; Vincent Filla of Washington; Frank Filla of Chester, Ill.; three Brothers-in-law, four sister-in-law, other relatives and many friends. Funeral Services were conducted from the residence on Monday, February 12, 1940, at 10 a.m. and 10:30 at the St. Francis Borgia church. Interment was made in the church cemetery, under the direction of Niegurg & Vitt, Inc.
