Funeral services for Miss Ada Olive Simpson, 92, Vista North Apartments, Eldon, were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon. Miss Simpson died Friday, March 25, 1977, at Charles E. Still Hospital, Jefferson City. She was born Nov. 14, 1884, at Academy, Calif. to William Dixon and Sarah Jane (Henley) Simpson.

A retired school teacher, Miss Simpson taught for 30 years in the Tulsa Okla. schools and also taught in Eldon area schools until her retirement.

She moved to Spring Garden in 1951 and to Eldon in 1969. She was a member of the Spring Garden Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Addie Johnston, Eldon; a nephew, William R. Simpson, Prairie Village, Kan.; and two nieces, Mary K. Robinson, Wichita, Kan., and Helen L. Taylor, Reno, Nev.

The Rev. M.R. Hufstedler officiated at the services. Burial was in the Spring Garden Cemetery.

Although her headstone says she was born in 1884, you might note that she is listed on the 1880 census as 1 yr old and on the 1900 census as 21 yrs old. Not sure how the mistake was made, but it might be a mix up with her sister Nancy Elizabeth Simpson who was born in 1884. Their mother Sarah Jane Henley is my relative.
