CARLSBAD---Roy E. Brown, 85, died Monday at Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest Inc., North Canal Unit.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home with Walter Huber of Gila and Pastor Billy Weckel of Hillcrest Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.

He was born September 25, 1910, in Ranger, Texas, to Porter and Carrie McKinney Brown. He attended schools in Carlsbad. He moved to Lamesa, Texas, as a young man. He and his family farmed until returning to Carlsbad n 1941.

Mr. Brown then went to work for U.S. Borax until retirement.

He was a member of the Carlsbad Historical Society. Cavern Baptist Church for many years, and Hillcrest Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Etta Brown, in 1987, and daughters, Virginia and Nancy.

Survivors include numerous nephews and nieces.

Bearers are Marvin Bailey, C.C. "Junior" Brown, Jim Callaway, Harold Dunn, Harry Richardson and Bob Warren.

Honorary bearers are the Men's Adult V Sunday School Class of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
