Thelma I. Christy Retired cook at Holiday Inn formerly lived in Reynolds WAYNESBORO, Va. -- A funeral service will be held Friday for Thelma I. Christy, 1641 Wickham Lane, Apartment 109, Waynesboro, formerly of Reynolds. She died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002, in her residence after an extended illness. She was 72. Mrs. Christy was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Volant to Stephen Duffy Sr. and Violet Adams Duffy. She retired in 1977 after 22 years as a cook at the former Holiday Inn of Sharon in Hermitage. Mrs. Christy was of the Baptist faith and loved doing embroidery work and crocheting. She was an avid fan of WWF wrestling and enjoyed camping and volunteering with the elderly. Her husband, Albert H. Christy Sr., whom she married April 8, 1950, died Aug. 31, 1980. Surviving are: eight daughters, Mrs. Donald (Sandra) Kirkwood, Wampum; Mrs. Joseph (Linda) Bowser, Mrs. Michael (Diana) Hughes and Mrs. Harold (Marilyn) Taylor, all West Middlesex; Mrs. James (Janet) Phillips, Reynolds; Mrs. Kenneth (Joyce) Graban, Hubbard; Mrs. Ben (Karen) Esposito, Farrell; and Cindy Porterfield, Erie; three sons, Albert Christy Jr., Crimora, Va.; Alvin Christy, Waynesboro; and Thomas Christy and his wife Michelle, Austintown, Ohio; one sister, Sara Williams, Farrell; one brother, Alvin Baker and his wife Dorothy, New Castle; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Mrs. Christy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters and two infant children. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home for burial expenses. CHRISTY Mrs. Albert H.
