Mrs. Mary Theresa Wellman Shipman of Jonesboro died Sunday, December 5, at St. Bernard's Regional medical Center. She was 97.
Mrs. Shipman was born Oct. 17, 1913 in the family home at Palmyra, MO to the late Lawrence and Caroline Wellman

She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1996 and a grandson, William E. Baker in 1982.
She is survived by two sons, James Robert Shipman of Vacaville, CA and John Marlin Shipman, Jr. of Jonesboro; daughter, Mrs Carolyn Ann Baker of Arlington, TN; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Jordan of Virginia; Angie Kassner of TN; Rene' Carter of Louisiana; Desree Welborn of Missouri; John M. Shipman of California; Theresa Ewing of California; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-grand children.

Mrs. Shipman was a Roman Catholic and was a former organist for St. Michael's Catholic Church in West Memphis for many years. . She was a secretary for Razorback Concrete Co in West Memphis until her retirement. She also was a avid bridge player

Graveside services were conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion, AR.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Village in Jonesboro or to Lakeside Nursing Center Activities Fund in Lake City, AR.
