He was born Saturday, February 25, 1956, in Kankakee, the son of George D. and Ruth J. Perkins Harvick.
On October 12, 1996, he married the former Jean M. Sorensen in Danforth; she survives in Crescent City.
Mr. Harvick was a carpenter, working for Zumallen Concrete in Crescent City until 1994, and later for T & E Enterprises in Herscher.
He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Church Council, Men in Mission, and taught Sunday school there. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed woodworking, landscaping, music, collecting guitars, NASCAR, and the Chicago Bears.
Also surviving Mr. Harvick are two sons, Dustin Harvick of Florida, and Kevin Harrison of Crescent City; one daughter Deidre Harvick of Washington, Ill.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, David and Suzy Harvick of Florida, Evan "Jim" and Heather Harvick of Florida, and George "Jody" Harvick of Kentland, Ind.; one sister, Traci Jonson of Buckley; parents, George and Judy Harvick of Gilman, Ruth Harvick of Crescent City, and Loren Trimble of Crescent City; two granddaughters, Haleigh Rae Harvick and Audrey Brooke Harvick; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, two aunts, and two uncles.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka, from 4-8 pm and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at the church.
Funeral services for Mr. Harvick will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Crescent City at 11 am with Pastor Joel Brown officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery in Crescent City.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice, to St. Peters Lutheran Church, or to the family's wishes.
