Marie Frances Klein 80, of Prineville, passed away on Sept. 17, 2010.
Visitation will be held at Whispering Pines Funeral Home Chapel, 185 N.E 4th St., in Prineville, on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, from 2 to 7 p.m., with a vigil to follow. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at 1 p.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 150 E. 1st Street, in Prineville.
Interment will follow the funeral mass, at Juniper Haven Cemetery, 1555 N. Main St., in Prineville.
Marie was born on April 14, 1930 in Portland, Ore. to Arnold Joseph and Anna Frances Baggenstos. She attended Commerce (Cleveland High School) in Portland, Ore. After school, she worked at the U.S. Bank in Milwaukie, Ore., and also at the Powell branch.
Marie married Albert Klein on Oct. 29, 1949, in Portland. Marie and Albert started a freight salvage business together. She was always willing to help Albert. She helped Albert build their home in Portland.
She lived in Portland for 69 years, and the remaining years in Prineville. She also joined the Skyline Volunteer Fire Department where her husband Albert was the Fire Chief. Marie was the Treasurer of the PTA for three years and was the Mother of the Eagles for the lodge and was also the bartender. She was a member of the Eagles lodge for more than 20 years.
She was also a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Portland. Marie and Albert moved from Portland to Prineville, where she loved to feed the birds and the deer.
Marie's hobbies included dancing, embroidering, traveling, rock hounding, cooking, playing the harmonica, and whistling. Marie loved animals and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Marie is survived by her loving husband, Albert Klein of Prineville, Ore.; daughters, Linda (Steve) Burgus of Hermiston, Ore., and Colleen (Bobby) Wood of Lafayette, Ore.; sons, Raymond Klein of Prineville, and Michael Klein of Portland; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister Anne Earl in Vancouver, Wash.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
