OBITUARY :
MR. WOODROW W. "WOODY" BRYAN, 94, of 416 West Eighth Street, Waynesboro, PA, died at 4:27 P.M. Saturday, December 4, 2010 in the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Toy Sheffler. His health had been failing considerably, during the last four weeks of his life.

He was born on July 31, 1916 in Greencastle, PA; he was the son of the late Adam W. and Effie (Cramer) Bryan. He lived most of his life in the Waynesboro area.

Woody attended the Waynesboro Schools.

He served with the Waynesboro National Guards, Troop F of the 104th Calvary from 1933 through 1936. He also served as a technician 5th Grade, 2nd Detachment, U.S. Army Ground Force during World War II.

He and his late wife, Mrs. Tressie Anna (Monn) Bryan, were married on April 27, 1935 in Hagerstown, MD, and lived most of their life together in the Waynesboro area. Mrs. Bryan died May 28, 2006.

Woody was employed at Victor Tool Company of Waynesboro in the grinding department, then Landis Tool Company of Waynesboro on the assembly floor. He later worked for W.B. Thompson Feed Mill and Martin's Freight Lines both of Waynesboro. He then chose to drive tractor trailer for D.M. Bowman and Jefferson Cheese for a short time. Then prior to retiring, he drove truck for Air Products for 28 years. Following his retirement, he drove school bus from 1980 through 2002 and also drove for D & S Coach in Quincy.

Woody was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church of Waynesboro, a life member of Mechanics Fire Company, Waynesboro and a member of the National AARP.

He enjoyed being with his family, hunting, fishing and golfing.

He is survived by two daughters, Faye I. Wishard, and Judy L. Sheffler husband Toy both of Waynesboro, three sons, James W. Bryan wife Pat, Barry L. Bryan wife Libby and Rick A. Bryan all of Waynesboro, 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Doris E, Jones and Shirley A. Eck both of Waynesboro and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Sheeley who died June 2002, three sisters, Ethel C. Shockey, Helen V. Shindledecker and Margaret L. Fahrney, four brothers, Charles W. Bryan, Howard J. Bryan, Harold C. Bryan and Richard C. Bryan.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro with Rev. Donald L. Bender officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy, PA.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, 7885 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
