Alfred John "A.J." Blackburn 1933—2010

My Johnnie, the love of my life, has gone from my arms to the arms of Father in Heaven. John left this mortal life December 1, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. in our home.

He was born May 13, 1933, in Duchesne, UT, to Gerald Vern and Leatha Mower Blackburn.

A.J. received his education in Salt Lake City and majored in marketing at Provo Vocational.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

A.J. married Shirlee Yoeman and together they have a special daughter, Susan Best. They were later divorced. He married his eternal sweetheart, Ann Mecham Blackburn, in the Provo L.D.S. Temple. They have enjoyed many happy hours serving there.

A.J. is survived by: his wife, Ann; daughters, Susan and Beti; brothers, Ralph, Tom, and David; sisters, Jo Ann and Ranae; ten grandchildren; and his loving dogs, Alphie, and Sparkie.

Special thanks are extended to Dave and Michelle, many other nieces and nephews, and to Nanette and Carol at Applegate Hospice for their tender care.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Perpetual Education Fund. Johnnie, we will love and miss you.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverside Branch LDS Chapel, 2434 E. Riverside Dr., St. George, UT.

A visitation will be held prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the chapel.

Interment with military honors will follow at Tonaquint Cemetery.
