Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Lyon, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Hummell, near Charles City on October 17, 1943 from complications of advanced age, were held at her home at La Porte City, after which the body was brought to Traer for burial in Buckingham cemetery, Wednesday afternoon, October 20. Mrs. Lyon, daughter of Sarah Watts and William Fox, was born in Lycoming county, Pennsylvania on January 26, 1851. She came to Iowa with her parents when she was five years old, the family settling on a farm near Traer. In 1871 she was united in marriage to James Boyd, who lost his life in an accident in 1884. On January 14, 1888, she was married to Walter Lyon, who died February 28, 1937. She came to La Porte City in 1898 from a farm near Traer and resided there until the death of Mr. Lyon. Since then, she had lived with her daughter near Charles City most of the time. She leaves one other daughter, Mrs. C. F. Hodges, of Worthington, Indiana, and one brother, John Fox, of La Porte City. She was preceded in death by two sons by her former marriage. Rev. Ralph Supplee of the Methodist church of La Porte City officiated at the services in La Porte and at the cemetery.

Christiann was the widow of James Boyd.
