FORMER WANNE MAN
CLAIMED BY DEATH

James Dobbin who was formerly in business in Wayne, and who of late years had been living at Carroll, died Monday, February 9, of cancer of the stomach at St. Francis hospital in Grand Island, Neb., where he had gone two months previous for medical treatment. He was aged 76 on January 31, last. The remains were taken to Laurel yesterday, when funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian church by Rev. Mr. McClusky of that place, and the remains were laid to rest by those of a son, John Dobbin, who died a year and a half ago.

James Dobbin moved to Wayne from Iowa in 1886, and first engaged in the dry goods business. Later, he handled farming implements. He was in business here for fifteen years. Of late years, he had been residing at Carroll. He was as soldier of the Civil War. He was a member of the Ninety-First Illinois regiment, and served three and one half years. He was a thirty-second degree Mason. About a year ago, he warmly embraced the Christian religion, and as the end drew near, he expressed willingness and even anxiety to pass on.

He is survived by his wife and three sons and three daughters, as follows: Mrs. P. W. Peyton of Denver, Colo.; Mrs, J. P. Killin of Pueblo. Colo., Mrs. Charles Robbins of Twin Falls, Idaho; Holly E. Dobbin of Central City, Colo.; Charles Dobbin of Cripple Creek, Colo.; and James Dobbin, Jr., of Carroll. He also leaves three brothers and one sister. One brother, Joseph Dobbin of Norfolk, was present at the funeral. Two daughters, Mrs. Charles Robbins, and Mrs. Peyton, were with him during his fatal illness at Grand Island.
