Lora Vail Agans
Lora Vail Tom Agans, 83, of Rushville, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born May 10, 1917, in Camden Township, Schuyler County the son of the late F.W. and Clara Jane (Marlow) Agans. He married Louise Roudebush on Aug. 14, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Larry Agans (wife Debbie) of Marion; two daughters, Sandra Brockman of Beardstown and Janie Ward (husband Jerry) of Rushville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ora Agans, of Rushville; and two sisters, Margria Sharer (husband Harlan) of Milan, and Marthia Flake (husband Maurice) of Harrison, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Dusty Jo Ward, and two brothers, Harold and Winscyial Agans.
He first worked for the Adams Electrical Co-Operative as a lineman. He later farmed for Charles Rohn. In 1945, he began working at Quinn s Shell in Rushville. In 1966, he purchased the business and renamed it Tom s Shell and operated it until his retirement on March 16, 1980. He then drove a school bus for Schuyler Unit District #1.
He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville, a 50-year member of Rushville Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 9, Lusk Chapter No. 20 Royal Arch Masons, Commandery 506 Knight Templar, 22 Club, 50-year member of the I.O.O.F, Friendship Lodge No. 24, and Adeleide Rebekah Lodge 381 before transferring membership to Macomb Rebekah Lodge 342. He enjoyed sharing time with his family and visiting with all his friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Rev. Robert Belew officiating. Burial was in the Rushville City Cemetery.
