Opal Mae James, 93, of Chillicothe, died Wednesday, October 13, 1999, at Morningside Center Nursing Home in Chillicothe.
She was born December 10, 1905, in Wheeling, the daughter of Clifton R and Jenny Clark Head.
On February 21, 1929, she married Earl James. He died in 1963.
Mrs James graduated from Wheeling High School in Wheeling and moved from Wheeling in 1930. She was a homemaker and a cashier for Parkway Grocery and a clerk for the Woolworth store, both of Chillicothe. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chillicothe.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Thelma James and Larry and Norma James, all of Chillicothe; a daughter and son-in-law, Erla and Dale Stuver of Sedalia; three sisters, Minnie Narr of Kansas City, Margaret Dye of Carrollton and Beulah Hillsman of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ralph Head; and two sisters, Ruth Whited and Cora Arnold.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm, Saturday, October 16, 1999, at the Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Reverend Ross Fulton Jr will officiate. Burial will be at the Wheeling Cemetery in Wheeling.
Friends may call from noon until 8 pm, Friday, October 15 and from 8:30 am until service time on Saturday, at the funeral home. There is no scheduled visitation.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church or the Wheeling Cemetery, which may be left at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
