Dorothy I. (Gross) Rigsbey, 89, died at 5;30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, at her home. She was born Aug. 13, 1914, in Jersey County, to Joseph Curtis & Hattie (Bowers) Gross.
She married Clarence A. Rigsbey May 5, 1955, in Alton. He died Feb. 12, 1973. She was a real estate agent, retired from State Realty, and was a foster grandmother for several years.
She is survived by a daughter, Fern Loy-Darr of Medora; a son and his wife, Mark and Vicky Rigsbey of Brighton; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Delbert Gross of Medora and Gerald Robert Gross of Quartzsite, Ariz.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Gary Darr; brothers Lester, George Alvin, Floyd, Pearl and Wilbur Gross; a sister, Mildred Moran; and a son-in-law, Myron Darr.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Targhetta Funeral Home in Medora, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Gelder Cemetery. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice or Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Medora.
