FRANCIS ASHBY
A memorial service for Francis Lorenal Ashby will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the San Mateo Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 37th Avenue and Alameda de las Pulgas.
Ashby died of cancer Friday at his home, 965 Parrott Drive, Hillsborough. He was 73.
A native of Salt Lake City, he had resided on the Peninsula for 27 years. He founded Ashby Metal Products and was the developer of Baywood Highlands. He was a former member of the Peninsula Golf and Country Club.
Surviving are his widow, Marcelle G. Ashby, Hillsborough; two sons, Gordon T. Ashby, Hillsborough, and Leland P. Ashby, Foster City; a daughter, Sandra D. Worrells, Los Altos; a brother, Hal Ashby, San Francisco; and nine grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Colonial Mortuary of Crosby N. Gray & Co., Burlingame, until 10 o'clock tonight. Interment will be private.
Contributions to the American Cancer Society are preferred by the family.
Francis and Marcelle Ashby both served as Mormon Missionaries in Marseille France in 1972.
