day and Was Buried Friday—
Mrs. Moon Died Saturday.
Mrs. Mary A. Moon, for many years a resident of Humeston, but who has been residing with her son, John Moon, near Kellerton for some time, died Saturday night of Pneumonia, aged 80 years, 2 months and 9 days.
Mrs. Moon's maiden name was Butler. She was born in Jefferson County, Mo., Nov. 25, 1821. She was married to Wm. Moon on Dec. 4, 1840, to which union nine children were born, six of whom survive her and mourn her loss. The husband and three children having gone before her in death. Mrs. Moon had 34 grandchildren, among whom is Miss Kitty Wood, a missionary in India, and 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Surviving children are John, Henry, Joe, Richard, and Peter Moon and Mrs. N. Altekruse.
She was a good woman, a true wife and loving mother. She lived many years to bless the world and strengthen the lives of others. In early life she was converted to the Christian faith and united with the Baptist church, but when she left Missouri and located in Muscatine County, Iowa, she united with the United Brethren church. Later when she came to this part of the state she united with the Methodist church, remaining a member of it until death.
Her remains were brought from Kellerton Monday morning and the funeral was held at ten o'clock at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. C. W. Fisher. The services were conducted by Rev. Roberts. Burial was made at Green Bay.
