Nora Mary Payer, age 57, Belcourt, ND, passed away at the Belcourt Hospital on Thursday, November 23, 2000.
Funeral was held on Wednesday, November 29, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND. Interment was in the church cemetery in the spring of 2001.
Visitation began on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at 5:30 p.m. with vigil service at 8:00 p.m., all at Niewoehner Funeral Home, Belcourt.
Casket bearers were Jeff Swain, Darrell Boyer, Larry Bailey, Sr., Nathan Pflugradt, Wolford Houle and Bingo DeCcteau.
Nora was born at Cando, North Dakota on August 19, 1943, the daughter of Jack Laducer and Zelma (Swain) Pflugradt. She was raised at Belcourt, Garrison and Ft. Pierre, SD. She was educated at St. Ann's at Belcourt, at Coleharbor, ND and at Ft. Pierre Public School, Ft. Pierre, SD. On November 17, 1957, Nora and Ernest Payer, Sr. were married at Ft. Pierre, SD. Following their marriage, they made their home at Ft. Pierre. After a short time, they then moved to Rolette, Rolla and Douglas, living in each area for a short time and lastly spending most of their married life in Belcourt.
Ernest passed away December 25, 1984.
Nora was a homemaker, caring for her children and home. Her favorite time was spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking, bingo and going to the casino.
Survivors include her mother, Zelma Pflugradt, Minot; sons: Terry (Delima) Payer Sr., St. John, Jon (Joann) Payer, Windsor, CA, Ernest (Vicky) Payer Jr., Granville; three daughters: Theresa (Charles) Usselman, Balfour, Brenda (Cornelius) Jackson, St. Louis, MO, Sheila Payer, Minot. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters: Cynthia Pflugradt and Dorothy (Robert) Balucki, all of Minot; companion, Antoine Thomas, Belcourt.
She was preceded in death by her father, spouse and one daughter, Lorna.
