WOLFE

Lila A. Wolfe, 87, of Fort Collins passed away Nov. 26, 2010. She was born in Columbia, Ky., on Oct. 20, 1923, to William and Maddie Ballou. She grew up on a Kentucky tobacco farm and attended school in a one-room schoolhouse.

Lila was truly a free spirit and adventurous. She followed her brother out west to Greeley, where she met and married Gilbert Wolfe. To this union two children were born, Lisa and Geoff.

The family moved to Fort Collins and ran the concessions for the City Park railway, the swimming pool and the ballpark.

Lila loved the outdoors and liked to take walks and work in her flower gardens. She loved people and used her 'southern hospitality' to entertain her family and many friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Voelker, of Fort Collins; son Geoff of Fort Collins and step-son Larry (Vivian) Wolfe of Fort Collins; step-daughter Marilyn (Bill) Bethel of Pennsylvania; brother Kenneth (Stella) Ballou of Burkesville, Ky.; sister Margie Anderson of Westherford, Texas; grandson Pierce Lee Wolfe of Fort Collins; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gilbert; two sisters, Feyline McGaha and Eris Ehling; and six brothers, Vergil, Estel, Slick, Carlos, Almon and Lamar.

A celebration of Lila's life will be scheduled in the Spring.
