James Thomas "Red" Shelton of Huntland, a retired farmer, died Monday at Franklin County Hospital. He was 71. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Moore Cortner Funeral Home. Rev. George McGlothin officiated. Burial was in Lee Cemetery. He was born on December 7, 1907 in Lexington, Alabama to Joseph Franklin and Sarah Louvina (Fulks) Shelton. Survivors include his wife, Lucille (Waldon) Shelton; his sons, Billy Joe Shelton, Milton Lee Shelton, Onis Arnold Shelton, Paul Allen Shelton, and Timothy Shelton, all of Huntland, Charles Edward Shelton of Tullahoma, James Thomas Shelton, Jr. and John David Shelton, both of Summertown, and Kenneth Ray Shelton of Elora; his daughters, Mary Lois Shelton and Rita Faye Mason, both of Huntland; his brother, Valton Hoyt "Slim" Shelton of Huntland; his sisters, Adell Viola Isbell of Ethridge, Florine Laws of Summertown, Mary Elizabeth Young of Knoxville, and Anna Mae Rutledge of Ardmore, Alabama; and fourteen grandchildren.
