Ervin LeRoy Moist, 84, died early Monday morning, December 21, 2009, at his home in Syracuse, Indiana.

He was born to the late Ephriam and Hester (Smith) Moist, on May 12, 1925, in South Bend, Indiana; his stepfather was Albert Nelson.
He married Fern Curtis on April 29, 1945, in Goshen. She preceded him in death on November 21, 1989.

Mr. Moist worked at Anderson Boling and Hoskins Manufacturing in quality control. A past Governor of the Goshen Moose, he was also a member of the Millersburg American Legion Post #484, Goshen VFW Post #985, and the DAV, he served in the US Army during World War II.

He is survived by five daughters, Rebecca Wysong, Millersburg, Dianna Kincaid, Amy (Stephen) Cox, both of Goshen, Allison (John W.) Kuipers, Nancy J. (Brian) Cannon, both of Syracuse; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace and Walter Moist; one sister, Cleo Blackport; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

An 11 a.m. funeral service, on Wednesday, December 23, will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Lenny Krebs, from Benton Free Baptist Church is officiating.

Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorials may be made out to the Millersburg American Legion Post #484.
