COOKEVILLE - Joint funeral services for Omer L. Allen, 80, and his wife, Vesta Hawkins Allen,78, of Cookeville will be held Thursday,
November 1, at 11 a.m. in Algood Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen died Sunday (October 28, 1990) from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mrs. Allen was dead on arrival at
Cookeville General Hospial. Mr. Allen died at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mr. Allen was the son of the late William Riley and Nannie Jane Mansell Allen. Mrs. Allen was the daughter of the late Russell Dillard and Nancy Jane Burris Hawkins. They were both natives of Jackson County.
Thc couple were members of the Algood Church of Christ, where Mr.
Allen served as an elder for many years.
Their family includes one son, Omer Clayron Allen of Antioch; five
daughters, Polly Weston of Woodland Hills, California, Barbara Kinslow of Manchester, Rilda Jamieson of Anaheim, Caiifornia, Judy Rash of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and Oneda Edmundson of Nashville; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Allen is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Hawkins and Leona and Phyllis Hawkins. Mr. Allen is survived by
one brother, Charlie P. Allen of Cookeville.
The family will receive friends at Hooper and Huddleston Funeral
Home from 4-9 p.m today and Wednesday. Their bodies will lie in state at the church from l0 a.m. until time for services Thursday.
Bro. Jack Openshaw and Bro. Bruce Mclarty will officiate at the services.
