A funeral service for Lillie Mae Acosta, 89, will be Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Pastor Kevin Poage of Clawson Assembly of God and Rev. Dock Lazarine officiating. Interment will be at Procella Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas. Lillie died on November 29, 2010, in Nacogdoches. She was born February 3, 1921 in Nacogdoches, Texas to George and Emma Lazarine. She married Lawrence Acosta in 1938 and they had eleven children: Mary Buster of Nacogdoches, Pat and Johnny Dixon of Pollok, Jeanie and Travis Pinkston of Nacogdoches, Margie Dixon of Lufkin, Carol and Johnny Sims of Orange, Texas, Kenneth and Sylvia Acosta of Nacogdoches, Gale and Lupe Acosta of Lufkin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Lawrence in 2003. Four children also preceded her in death: J.C. Acosta, Franklin Acosta, James "Bubbie" Acosta and Naomi Acosta Vann. She is also survived by 39 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren; brother Dock Lazarine of Gary, Texas, sisters Lavern Gresham of Nacogdoches, and Jeanie Tipton of Arizona; brother and sister-in-law Leo and Earlene Acosta of Nacogdoches; sister-in-law Evy Keller of Pearland, Texas. Lillie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed working in her flower beds. She also was known for her wonderful cooking, especially her homemade dumplings. Lillie was a very hard worker all of her life. Pallbearers will be Donny Buster, Jason Acosta, Keith Dixon, Franky Strickland, Craig Acosta, Kevin Acosta, Billy Church, John Sims, Jamie Acosta, and Rodney Vann. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Acosta's grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 p.m.­7 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2010. Prayer Vigil Service will follow at 7 p.m. with Deacon Gary Trevino officiating and assisted by Pastor Tony Shaw.
