Benjamin Franklin May, 72, of Remington, a retired farmer and former township trustee, died in St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, at 6:30 a.m. Friday. He had been in failing health several months and in the hospital three weeks.
Born in Remington, he spent his life in this community and was a farmer and Republican trustee of Carpenter township for two terms beginning in 1943. He was married in 1910 to Clara Griffith who died in 1956. He was a member of the Christian church, Masonic Lodge 351 and Odd Fellows of Remington and Knights of Pythias at Rensselaer.
Surviving are a son, Howard, at home; and four daughters, Mrs. Virgil Leonard of Mansfield, Ill., Mrs. Robert Williams of Monticello, Mrs. Homer Hofeling of Watseka, Ill., and Mrs. Russell Lambert of Remington.
