William Helton, 83, of Brodhead, passed away Saturday February 19, at the Ft. Logan Hospital in Stanford. He was born in Leslie County on June 4, 1888, the son of the late Carlo and Elizabeth Farmer Helton.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. China Caldwell Helton of Stoney Fork, and thirteen children by the late Laura Osborne Helton. They are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Bussell of Brodhead, Mrs. Viola Waldon and Mrs. Geneva Farris, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Verlin Hasty of Calhoun, Georgia; seven sons, Ezra and Lester Helton, both of Brodhead, John, Virgil, Curtis and Clinton Helton, all of Cincinnati, Ohio and Alfred Helton of Versailles; one sister, Mrs. Ellie Blanton of Florida; 56 grandchildren and 70 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Elijah and James Helton.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 21, at the Brodhead Baptist Church by Bro. John Zupancic. Interment was in Negro Creek Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Watson Funeral Home.
